About Surgical Technologists
Surgical Technologists are a vital part of the surgical field
today. Though somewhat new on the scene as a career title
(before 1978, the official title was "Operating Room
Technician"), Surgical Technologists are hard at work
today in operating rooms around the world.
We have links to many excellent descriptions of the Surgical
Technology field on our resources
page, as well as various organizations and useful sites.
For an inside-look at the work of a Surgical Technologist
in the OR, check out this sequence of 21 pages covering an
entire surgical process from start to finish, from Emily Rogers,
CST, RN, BS, CNOR, Department Head, Surgical Technology,
Spartanburg Technical College:

This
site is dedicated to serving Surgical Technologists, SurgTech
students, and their loved ones -- who sometimes need a little
extra help understanding the complexities of working in the
Operating Room.
We also hope to be a useful resource for practicing medical
professionals and students, as well as those with an interest
in the field.
We will be posting special resources focusing on cardio,
endo, and ophthalmic surgery in the coming months, under a
new "pods" subsite, right here at surgtech.info.

By sending in your suggestions for links related to the Surgical
Tech field, you can help us make this site an even better
resource for Surgical Techs! Links to medical dictionaries,
organizations, study guides, photo galleries and other sites
that you find useful, would be welcome additions. Please email
your suggestions to our site
manager. Thank you!
